Whenever we have friends and family staying we love taking them to the Adelaide Hills. It’s a picturesque drive and we also love the Adelaide Hills vineyards and cellar doors.
We usually pack a few activities to keep the kids amused and to hopefully buy us some time so that we can enjoy tasting some wines. Some cellar doors are so well equipped, though, that you really don’t need to plan too much.

We stumbled on Greenhill Wines as they were preparing for their Mad Hatter’s Tea Party Picnic as part of the Crush festival. They were busy baking tarts (for the Queen of Hearts?) and getting the scene set. Their cafe menu advertised cheese and salami platters, fresh bread, or scones and lemon curd – and we are told that there’s usually some delicious freshly baked cake.
You’ll also find an easel and drawing supplies for little ones, plus Finska for some outdoor fun. You can also charge your device while you do a tasting, or say hello to the resident pooch.
